Saffron is a rare and precious spice derived from the dried stigmas of the Crocus sativus flower. Known as the “golden spice,” it is prized for its rich aroma, vibrant color, and subtle flavor. Used in cooking, medicine, and beauty for centuries, saffron is one of the most valuable spices in the world.

Description

PREMIUM KASHMIRI MONGRA SAFFRON

Premium Kashmiri Mongra Saffron is the dark-red coloured stigma of Crocus sativus flower. This dark-red coloured stigma is attached to the flower with a pale-coloured portion known as style. After the flowers are picked from the field, the stigma is separately plucked from the style portion. This stigma contains useful chemicals i.e. Crocin, Picrocrocin & Safranal. It is the presence of these chemicals which bestows saffron with its medicinal properties & high value.

Essentially, Saffron is the dark-red coloured stigma only.

However, some marketers combine a portion of the pale-coloured style along with the red-coloured stigma, which provides a two-colour shade to the product i.e. red at the top & pale colour in the bottom. It reduces the medicinal portion (dark-red stigma) in the product, which actually carries the high value. These are low-quality variants of saffron (Lachha & Gucchi).

Furthermore, Kashmiri Saffron contains the highest crocin content (8.72%), amongst all varieties available worldwide. This makes it the most sought-after & expensive saffron variety in the world.

At Momlike, we are providing this Premium Kashmiri Mongra Saffron to our esteemed customers.

Check for Authenticity – Cold Water Test

  • Put a few saffron threads in a clear glass filled with cold water.
  • in case of pure saffron, the threads will slowly release a golden hue colour in the water. But the threads themselves will retain their red colour.
  • However, in case the colour of the water turns red, or if the saffron threads do not retain their red colour, the substance is most likely adulterated saffron.
